The studio behind the flame
Blankbloom Studio began around a shared worktable where small experiments became useful lessons: how wax changes, why a wick matters, and how a scent can hold a memory without overwhelming a room.
Founded in Portland in 2018, the studio grew from neighborhood workshops into a structured online learning library. We teach the decisions behind a good candle rather than promising instant perfection.
We make technical craft approachable, honest, and enjoyable. Every lesson respects material safety, measured testing, creative curiosity, and the maker’s own pace.
Every technique prioritizes ventilation, temperature control, and tested ratios.
We encourage small-batch testing before scaling any new idea.
Students leave with calm, repeatable processes they trust.
We teach responsible sourcing and minimal waste from day one.

Today the studio continues expanding its library while staying rooted in thoughtful, deliberate craft.
